Pontin’s, the UK’s leading entertainment and events business, is delighted to announce Easter short break holidays of 3 and 4 nights are up 40% compared to previous years. In fact they are the highest recorded in the last ten years.

February half term sales also beat expectations with an increase of over 28% compared to 2009.

The significant change in the type of holidays consumers demand and the popularity of the 3 or 4 night short break is definitely here to stay”.

World Cup and summer bookings are performing in line with expectations with a great line up of entertainment across the Parks. Pontin’s has always prided itself on providing outstanding entertainment, with stars such as Duncan James and Joe Pasquale. Recent themed events have featured performances from superstars; Paul Young, Toyah Wilcox and the Original Bucks Fizz –featuring Cheryl, Mike and Jay.

Just some of the entertainment that is lined up in the coming months includes several X Factor stars such as Irish Singer Eoghan Quigg, Laura White, Austin Drage and the wonderful US contestant Ethan Boroian, all of whom have had several million hits on YouTube. The fabulous brother and sister duo Same Difference will showcase an amazing new image across the Holiday Parks from June and will also perform in concert with the fabulous and famous Bluecoat Road show team. There will be some great entertainment from Bobby Davro (a recent Dancing on Ice contestant) and fabulous comic duo and BBC children’s show presenters, Dick & Dom.

In addition to the entertainment enhancements on the Pontin’s Parks, this summer season will see the introduction of ice and roller skate rinks, coupled with big ride fun fairs for all the family to enjoy. The Refurbishment and Improvement plan continues and will see enhanced fun swimming pools and new spa facilities opening during the course of this year and next.

The youngsters can be a “Pontastic Popstar” and join in the Young Bluecoat workshops where they can learn how to dance or sing. And all the family will love the Retro Revival featuring bands from the past like Re-take That and Pontin’s very own version of that popular gameshow – Blankety Blank.

And it wouldn’t be Easter without the Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt, Easter Bonnet Parade and a brand new Croceggstra Character Show.

theCOACHHOLIDAY.COM takes over 125,000 guests on holiday and awards are based on surveys of all of their customers over the past year.

Pontin’s Pakefield offers outstanding value for money breaks in a beautiful location with plenty of parking which are ideally suited to the coaching market. The breaks include good food, comfortable accommodation, excellent entertainment from the fantastic bluecoats and cabarets including Zoe Tyler, Bobby Crush and the Original Bucks Fizz starring Cheryl, Mike and Jay to name but a few. The Holiday Park also offers a range of events and themed breaks including Spring Flowers, Easter Parade, Big Bands, and their own Proms weekend. Future developments will also see the Holiday Park benefiting from a major investment programme which, subject to planning approval, will double the Park’s capacity and create a natural open seaside feel over 100 acres. The development will include an Ocean Spa complex, leisure golf course, Village Centre entertainment venue, extended leisure pool facility, extended and refurbished night club and theatre/ballroom, sports facilities, bar, restaurant and café.

A staggering 99% of respondents who completed a questionnaire that was available both at the exhibitions and online supported the redevelopment of the Holiday Park and over 94% supported the outline and principle of development put forward by Ocean Parcs for the proposed Ocean Village development.

The vast majority of respondents also supported plans for the inclusion of health, leisure and recreational facilities and for open access to local residents. Over 450 local residents and stakeholders attended the exhibitions.

Ocean Parcs is pleased with the progress towards the delivery of this significant Ocean Village development and is keen to get started in Southport as soon as possible. The planning application process is proceeding well and it is anticipated will be submitted later this year. Current view on timing for this £100 million development is a start on site around late summer/autumn in 2011.
