Early Years

Originally from Chicago, Ethan Boroian was born on the 26th of October 1989 in Illinois and moved to France at the age of two.

He began playing guitar at 13; joining a band with two of his friends after playing guitar for only a few months. The band, “Jona’s Basement”, focused on rock music and played various clubs, including New Morning in Paris.

It was only after the band broke up in 2003 that Ethan began approaching different styles of music. After a year of playing strictly Blues and Jazz, he decided to move forward looking at other genres. Ethan started to write his own music at the age of fifteen, and has never looked back.

Now living in England while he studies at Royal Holloway University of London, he still finds the time to write music.

X Factor

With a touch of the look of Steve Jones about him he certainly brought a smile to Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue’s faces when he stepped out on stage! He sang Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” and got through with four yes’s!

He became and instant internet sensation, with his audition video getting more than a quarter of a million views on You Tube in a matter of hours!

The 19-year-old student impressed the judges with his voice, charisma and looks when he appeared on the ITC 1 show.
Cheryl Cole commented “Wow, that was really impressive and you’re actually really sweet – you seem really quite humble and that was a good audition,”
Dannii Minogue said: “A little superstar. We need another slice of that.”
Louis Walsh added: “We want someone to come in who’s modern, of today, understated, good looking and talented. The girls are going to love you. You’re going to go far.”
Simon Cowell was keen to establish that the music wannabe – who used to have a teenage band called Jona’s Basement back home in the US – was a genuine UK entrant.

After his performance he told his fans online that he had never tried to audition for the TV talent show American Idol back home.
“To be honest, pretty scared of it, way too many people,” he said.
“Besides X Factor is so much better.”
